The 2014 La Petite Église, a pure Merlot harvested on 3 October, is consistently a small gem and arguably merits greater recognition among cognoscenti. It displays a gorgeously pure bouquet of vibrant red berry fruit, now showing hints of blue fruit compared to earlier tastings. The medium-bodied palate offers supple, ripe tannins, with pure red cherry and strawberry coulis layered with notes of cold stone and a subtle touch of blood orange. The finish is marked by remarkable precision. Overall, this is a superb wine that undoubtedly represents excellent value.
